MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine men's national basketball team opened its three-day training camp on Tuesday in Tagaytay, with the Gilas cadets joining PBA veterans in the "official launch" of the squad's campaign.
Gilas Pilipinas Coach Chot Reyes shared snippets of the team's road trip on his Instagram account.
Reyes said the camp will serve as the "starting point" for the Gilas squad, which is hoping to make it to the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup as well as the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
Among the things they hope to accomplish in the three-day camp are introducing the players to the system they want to run on offense and defense, setting expectations, and building camaraderie.
The first order of business for Gilas Pilipinas is the SEABA Championships on May 12-18, to be held in Manila.
