Isaiah Thomas scored 25 points and the Boston Celtics outscored the Golden State Warriors by 15 in the 4th quarter to win 99-86 on Thursday (Wednesday, US time).
Kelly Olynyk added 17 points and 3 steals for Boston, the only team to beat Golden State at home over the last 2 seasons.
Steph Curry and Klay Thompson combined to shoot a paltry 4 of 17 3-pointers for the Warriors (52-12), who are 2-2 since Kevin Durant started to miss the games because of an injury and hold just a 1.5-game lead over the San Antonio Spurs.
The win, San Antonio's 9th straight, marks the 18th straight regular season the Spurs have won 50 games.
John Wall scored 30 points and dished out 10 assists, and the Washington Wizards (39-24) strengthened their bid for the No. 2 seed in the East with a 123-113 win over the Denver Nuggets.
Boston is 2.5 games behind conference-leading Cleveland, with Washington off by 3.5 games.
