Alab Pilipinas will take on the Singapore Slingers on the road looking for some payback in the Asean Basketball League.
Ray Parks Jr. will lead the Filipino club at the OCBC Arena at 4 p.m. on Sunday, carrying the stigma of a 71-66 home loss to the Slingers in their first encounter in Binan, Laguna on November 27.
Alab is in high spirits following its 93-87 conquest of the Kaohsiung Truth. Parks exploded for 41 points and 14 rebounds in that game, his best output so far this season.
“I need to do whatever it takes para manalo. Kung kailangan, more assists. I’m a willing passer naman,” the son of the late PBA legend Bobby Parks said in a report on Spin.ph.
One of the roadblocks facing Alab is the Slingers' Xavier Alexander, whose primary assignment was to contain Parks during their first meeting. Parks was limited to 19 points on 5 of 12 shooting.
Also a thorn in Alab’s side is big man Justin Howard. Howard averages 27.7 points and 19.7 rebounds per game, while Alexander averages 16.2 points, 12.2 rebounds and 2.5 steals per outing.
Parks said he’s counting on his teammates to back him up.
“I really believe sa kakayahan ng team. Kung kaya lang namin laruin ‘yung laro namin these past few games, we are in good shape. It’s more of trusting one another and at the same time, hindi lang ako ang iiskor,” said Parks.
Seung-jun Lee and Dong-jun Lee are expected to provide Parks with ample support.
