MANILA, Philippines – The charity golf event pitting Dustin Johnson against Rory McIlroy, scheduled to take place on November 29 at the Pradera Verde Golf and Country Club in Lubao, has been cancelled.
Businessman Salvador "Buddy" Zamora and his event organizers announced Thursday that the event, "Dustin vs. Rory: Battle for a Cause," has been cancelled, citing a breach of contract "on the part of Creative Artists Agency."
CAA was contracted by Zamora to serve as the liaison between the event organizers and the two golfers.
"However, circumstances beyond our control caused this cancellation," he added.
Zamora said he remains committed to promote Philippine golf. He owns the license to hold the Asian leg of the 2018 European Tour in the Philippines, and is currently developing Puerto Azul Golf & Country Club to host the event.
He is also developing a junior golf academy to support young Filipino golfers.
Those who have purchased tickets to the November 29 event may contact SM Tickets to claim their refunds.
