MANILA -- Three-time WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao returned to work at the Senate on Tuesday, just days after his title victory over Mexican-American fighter Jessie Vargas.
Pacquiao, who still had bruises on his face which he sustained during his slugfest against Vargas, was welcomed by his fellow senators, who praised the boxing superstar for being able to juggle his legislative work and training.
(I even left my family in Las Vegas.)
Pacquiao also donated his WBO belt to the Senate to express his gratitude for allowing him to fight despite his legislative duties.
The belt was received by Senate President Koko Pimentel.
Pacquiao also responded to criticisms that he funded the trips of government officials, including PNP chief Director General Ronald Dela Rosa, to Las Vegas
He said he sees nothing wrong with it.
"Mabuti pang manlibre kesa gumawa ng kalokohan," said Pacquiao.
