MANILA, Philippines – Glenn Khobuntin won Player of the Day honors after leading the Philippines to a 1-1 record in their first day of action in the FIBA 3x3 World Championships in Guangzhou, China.
The former National University forward had 15 points in the Philippines' 21-19 win over Romania, and added five in a 16-21 loss to Spain.
Khobuntin impressed the crowd with his fearless drives to the basket, repeatedly blowing by taller but slower opponents. He also showed off a deft touch from the perimeter, memorably erasing his defender with a crossover before splashing a jumper against Romania.
They are set to play Hungary and Poland in pool C action on Friday.
