MANILA, Philippines – University of Santo Tomas continues to flash its fearsome form as the Tigresses overpowered the University of the Philippines, 28-26, 25-19, 25-18, to roll to its fourth win in a row in the V-League Season 13 Reinforced Conference Monday at the Philsports Arena.
With the victory, the Tigresses are assured of at least a playoff for a semifinals berth in the tournament.
The Tigresses proved more composed as they pulled through in a tight, extended first-set duel, but then imposed their will in the next two frames. They pounced on UP's poor reception and erratic plays to eventually fashion the straight set victory.
The Tigresses previously beat Air Force, Coast Guard, and Bali Pure.
UP dropped to 1-2 in the tournament. Diana Carlos led the Lady Maroons with 16 points, but no other UP player reached double-figures.
