MANILA, Philippines – Mapua Institute of Technology center Allwell Oraeme is the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the NCAA for the second season in a row while La Salle Greenhills' Troy Mallillin took home the top individual award in the juniors division.
The two players were formally awarded Tuesday at the Mall of Asia Arena ahead of Game 2 of the NCAA Season 92 Finals between San Beda College and Arellano University.
"I feel like even though we fell short of our goal, I feel like going into the Final Four is still a blessing," said Oraeme, who powered Mapua to a second straight Final Four appearance. "We can't say, 'Oh, we didn't go to the finals,' because a couple of years ago, we were at the bottom of the table, and right now, we're contenders."
"So I'm really grateful," he added.
Joining Oraeme in the Mythical Five were Arellano's Jiovani Jalalon, University of Perpetual Help's Bright Akhuetie, San Beda's Donald Tankoua, and Emilio Aguinaldo College's Hamadou Laminou.
Jalalon is the lone local player in the Mythical Five.
Tankoua managed to make it to the team despite appearing in only 11 games this season. The Cameroonian big man suffered an ACL injury that forced him to miss most of the second round as well as the Red Lions' run to the Finals.
