MANILA, Philippines – National University (NU) and Far Eastern University (FEU) will battle for solo second place when they face off in the final day of the first round of the UAAP Season 79 men's basketball tournament on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Both teams enter the contest with 4-2 records, and the winner will seize solo second place behind unbeaten De La Salle University (7-0).

The Tamaraws are coming off a 79-72 victory over University of Santo Tomas in a rematch of last season's Finals, while the Bulldogs routed University of the Philippines, 80-69.

"We have to play better than how we played today," he said. "We can never be contented, because there's always something to learn."

"It's a long season," he added. "So we have to be consistent with what we do."

Meanwhile, FEU head coach Nash Racela is anticipating a tough game against the Bulldogs, who were tabbed as potential contenders ahead of the season.

"We'll give it our best," he said. "NU is a really tough team. May balance sa kanila offensively and defensively. Maganda ang ball sharing nila. It will be a challenge for us. Hopefully our minds will be ready."

Game time is at 4 p.m.

In the first game of the double-header, Adamson University will look to rebound against the UST Growling Tigers at 2 p.m.

Adamson is coming off a shock loss to University of the East last Wednesday, and a win over the Tigers (2-4) will allow them to tie Ateneo de Manila University for a share of fourth place in the league standings.
